Basic Technical Training Standard / V9 2024-06-24
The instructor shall:
Explain the function of a torque wrench
Show the importance of pre-use checks and calibration in terms of safety and quality
Initiate and facilitate an exercise on the principles of conducting pre- and post- use inspections on handheld tools, including checks for damage, mandated inspections and calibration, appropriate quarantine actions, and tool marking if tool fails inspection
Share manufacturer documentations (manuals, risk assessments, guidelines) and company specific procedures
Provide feedback on the presented lists and their findings
Present examples of tool failure, malfunctions and their potential consequences
Demonstrate how to set and use the torque wrench
Facilitate practice for the participants in setting and using torque wrenches
Give constructive feedback on the participants’ setting and use of torque wrenches
In the following practical exercises, provide opportunities for participants to take initiative conducting pre-and post-use inspections using a manual torque wrench

In pairs or small groups investigate manufacturer documentation (manuals, risk assessments guidelines) and company specific procedures and share a list of generic principles on how to conduct pre- and post- use inspections on handheld tools and why these inspections are mandatory

Learning objectives:
