The instructor shall:
Explain and demonstrate (while seeking the participants’ understanding throughout) :
a.
how to perform a breathing assessment
b.
casualties not breathing
c. reasons for being unresponsive, not breathing and threats
d. cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through the use of training CPR mannequins
Present the capabilities and the technical specifications of AEDs
Explain and demonstrate the safe use of AED
Facilitate exercises on:
a. performing CPR on adults - single first aider including correct use of AED and ventilatory equipment
b. performing CPR on adults - two first aiders including correct use of AED and ventilatory equipment
c. correct treatment of a casualty who requires ventilatory support using advanced first aid equipment/airway management devices:
c.i
use of a pocket face mask
c.ii use of a bag valve mask (two person technique for bag - mask ventilation is recommended according to national/regional guidelines)
c.iii airway devices
d. demonstrate a full resuscitation sequence using all available equipment and simulated external telemedical support
Explain and demonstrate (while seeking the participants’ understanding throughout):
a. oxygen therapy equipment including different types of masks and delivery devices
b.
oxygen safety
c. indication for oxygen therapy according to national guidelines
Give constructive feedback to the participants performance throughout the activities in this element
The participants shall:
Engage in answering questions and share understandings:
