43) The participants can act independently in delivering correct first aid for external and internal bleeding (Ability, intermediate level)
44) The participants can perform correct first aid for shock (Skills, intermediate level)
45) The participants can recognise and assess signs and symptoms of serious and minor injuries and illness, including those that are time critical (Knowledge, advanced level) 46) The participants can perform enhanced first aid for acute illness and injury, including those that are time critical (Skills, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Explain and demonstrate (while seeking the participants’ understanding throughout):
a.
circulation - assessment techniques
b.
skin colour and temperature
c.
capillary refilling time
d.
pulse
e. correct use and interpretation of a pulse oximeter (SPO2/heart rate)
f.
external bleeding
g.
types (arterial, venous, capillary) treatment
Note
use of appropriate first aid equipment where applicable
Create exercises on:
a.
first aid when a casualty is bleeding externally
b.
bandaging
c.
use of first aid equipment, including pulse oximeter
Explain and demonstrate (while seeking the participants’ understanding throughout):
a.
internal bleeding
b.
causes
c.
recognition
