ELEMENT 6.1 - APPLICATION ALGORITHM OF PAIN MANAGEMENT
Learning objectives:
78) The participants can recognise the numerical rating scale for pain (Knowledge, basic level)
79) The participants can describe how to use non-medicinal treatment according to the step system of pain relief (Knowledge, basic level) 80) The participants can recognise prerequisites for the application of medicinal pain relief through the emergency call physician or national best practices (Knowledge, basic level) 81) The participants can describe indications and contra-indications of administering appropriate analgesics (Knowledge, basic level)
82) The participants can perform correct management of a casualty in pain (Skills, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Present the numerical rating scale for pain
Explain and demonstrate non-medicinal treatment according to the step system of pain relief
Present and emphasise prerequisites for the application of medicinal pain relief through the emergency call physician or national best practices (including clinical governance as appropriate)
Explain and demonstrate indications and contra-indications of administering appropriate analgesics
Ask the participants involving questions about indications and contra-indications of administering appropriate analgesics
Facilitate practice for the participants in the correct management of a casualty in pain including:
a.
assessment of pain using a numerical rating scale
b. performance of non-medicinal treatment according to the step system of pain relief
c. clarification of prerequisites for the application of medicinal pain relief through the emergency call physician or according to national best practices d. safe and correct management of administering appropriate analgesics according to national best practices or via medical teleconsultation during a scenario in a WTG environment
e. indications for administering appropriate analgesics according to national best practices
f. contra-indications for administering appropriate analgesics according to national best practices
