GWO Advance Rescue Refresher Training / V5 02052025
The participants shall:
Discuss in pairs or small groups and share experiences with identifying loose items that could potentially become a dropped object
Discuss in pairs or small groups best practices for preventing dropped objects, and share findings with other participants
Share experience of work situations, where haste or other constraints, such as hazards from adverse weather and environmental conditions, did or could have led to poor work safety
In a practical exercise with different hand tools and tethering equipment, individually point out the following 3 points:
a.
tethering point (on the tool)
b.
tether
c.
anchor point or attachment point
During practical training scenarios and activities ensure that hand tools and other relevant objects are tethered before working at height

Take part in the discussion about awareness of tethering, due diligence, and safe work in demanding situations, such as emergency procedures and drills, and adverse weather and environmental conditions, where tools and equipment may be hastily handled or misplaced
During practical training exercises, apply principles of dropped object prevention including correct tether selection and appropriate storage
On their own initiative, perform buddy checks in relation to safe tethering of additional equipment (e.g. small items in pockets, pocket tools, mobile phones, radios and tablets)
Examples of potential dropped objects that may be part of the tether practice exercise:
