WATER ROCKET LAUNCH CHALLENGE
As part of their Science lessons, Year 8 students were set a Summer rocket launch challenge where they had to construct and launch an air pressured rocket, using water as a propellant, with the goal of scoring the longest air time. Students got stuck into phase 1 of the challenge as they worked in groups to design their rockets in a way that would balance the centre of mass before deciding how much water they want to use. Once phase 1 was complete it was time to move into phase 2: launching the rockets. Students took it in turns to watch each group attempt to launch their rocket as they pumped the air into their bottles anxiously waiting for the pressure to build up and the rocket to release into the air.
