cession journey, the panelists provided some parting ad- vice. Cohen said trust and communication is key but so is “gentleness” to the legacy makers whose businesses are their life. “I think it’s important to really plan the succession while the outgoing member is healthy enough, is of good mind, I think that’s really important to do when they have their health,” he said. Added Nelson: “I would say most important from my perspective is what am I doing now to set the business up to be more successful than it is today. And we really want to make sure that that’s part of the day-to-day process. I just think that’s the most important part. How do you make it better the next generation from now?” “Be intentional,” McNay says. “Don’t let circumstances dictate.” Welch says not to be scared of the formalities and mechanics of succession planning. His father started the process early, he said. “For those of you that might be second, third generation like myself, just try to learn, because I watched from afar with my dad. It is a gruel- ing process to have to do it, and we’ve been blessed.” PMMI Unveils Aftermarket Parts & Service Report PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, announces the release of its 2025 After- market Parts & Service Report, a resource created for all packaging and processing stakeholders. The report reveals that nearly all end users and OEMs anticipate growth in their aftermarket business over the next three years, with 98 percent of end users expecting to expand or maintain their aftermarket budgets. As com- panies confront challenges around lead times, technician shortages, and evolving customer expectations, the report emphasizes the urgent need for OEMs and suppliers to optimize inventory management, strengthen remote ser- vices, and expand training initiatives. Other key takeaways from the report: • 75 percent of end users identified immediate parts availability and fast lead times as their top expectations. • 94 percent of OEMs predict growth in their aftermarket services business over the next three years. • Remote services, predictive maintenance, and proac- tive obsolescence planning are becoming non-nego- tiable to remain competitive. “The data is clear: Aftermarket services are no longer secondary—they are critical to business success,” says Jorge Izquierdo, Vice President, Market Development, PMMI. “Companies that align their aftermarket strategies with customer needs today will be tomorrow’s industry leaders.”
