I. GROWING INFORMATION*
❖ Temperature
Ideally 68- 77ºF but tolerate much more extreme conditions).
Growth Rates* • In 4” Pots: 12-16wks • In 6” Pots: 16-20wks
❖ Light Levels
1st stage (rooting stage) 930 foot candles– 2 nd stage ( fi nal distance) 2300 foot candles.
*Grow time can vary according to growing conditions.
❖ Relative Humidity Ideally a minimum of 70% but tolerate much more extreme conditions.
❖ Fumigations
Preferably fumigate in the early morning or late afternoon. There must always be water in the funnel when fumigating. Be careful with chemicals.
Product Uses • In a combo pot
mixed with a trailing succulent
❖ Water
2x per week overhead. There must always be water in the funnel. Do not overwater the medium. Better to keep the plants on the dry side.
• As houseplants in pots
• On shade patios
❖ Soil
Well-drained soil with a high continent of organic material. Preferable peat moss. EC of 0.5 and pH of 5.
• Mounted onto ornamental
driftwood or stems
❖ Fertilizer
No Boron (toxic for Bromeliads) – EC 1.0 – 1.5, pH 5.5. Neoregelia take fertilizer up through the leaves / funnel. N-P2O5-K2O-CaO-MgO ratio 1.2-1-1.5-0.9-0.4
• As a focal plant
❖ Diseases
Be aware of fungus, especially in wet conditions (Helminthosporium, Fusarium).
❖ Potential Pests
Scale, mealy bugs, slugs, snails
II. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
‣ Always pack the plants without water in the funnel. It is better not to water the plants before 9:00am. ‣ Do not handle the plants early in the morning. It is better to pack them the day before.
