Whatever it was, she was locked on now since his parents weren’t going to do anything about it and his father was a big lawyer anyway with lots of connections. Scene #11 – The Bronx [Sunday] The reinforced NYPD Counter-Terror Task Force surprised the street gang holding Kira Sula hostage with flair and quickly overwhelmed weak re - sistance at their warehouse hideout. They were well compensated, paid by Vetker’s associates. While the VIP was thankfully rescued without loss among the assault force, the gang fared poorly with few survivors. The sensitive nature of the raid, coupled with the potential impact on geopo- litical affairs, meant that the utmost care and caution had to be exercised, proper intelligence gathered, and no expense spared. Minnesota Timber- wolves all-star center Atlas Grandu, the fiancé of Sula’s daughter, praised the NYPD, the Mayor and even President Smith for their efforts in getting his beloved back after she was taken three days ago. When the story hit
the news cycle, the embat- tled Smith breathed a sigh of relief: finally there was something to show she was active and not just be- ing pushed around by un- seen forces trying to upset her first term in office. It was not yet clear to Smith that Sula himself had been captured by the CAR and would soon complicate her situation further.
