of bed and hurried to her dresser to get ready for work. While searching for something to wear, she couldn’t help but to feel a sense of dread. She shook it off and continued to get ready for work: nothing was going to stop her from having a good time on this trip. As Ann arrived at work, her mind was already at the campsite. Work had become nothing but nonstop meetings, Zoom calls, paperwork, and stress. This week away was going to help her unwind and spend some much-needed time away from this office. While sitting at her desk, she noticed odd little things that she kept writing off as a coincidence: A newspaper article about two experienced hikers gone missing while out in the woods, her weather app calling for storms and possible power outages, and then a coworker talking about some conspiracy involving devil worshipers and their secret meet ups in the forest. Feeling uneasy, Ann called her best friend Sara at lunch. Ann and Sara have been friends since they were school girls, and Sara has always been the more positive one. Ann was hoping Sara could ease whatever this feeling that was growing inside her was; plus, Sara was coming on the trip.
