and they started adding their logs to keep it going. Once the fire got warm enough, Julian came over with a pot and Sally came over with a large can of soup and a few bowls to pour it into. Julian poured the soup into the pot and started cooking. Sally took the ladle and poured everyone a bowl of hot soup. Once everyone had a bowl, they all found a spot around the fire and got comfortable and started eating. When everyone finished eating, they each grabbed their bags and checked for service. All six phones read ‘no signal.’ Agreeing that the hike to the site had been long and tiresome, they decided to sleep on it tonight and picked a tent to get ready for bed. Ann stayed with Sara, Jimmy with Stanley, and Sally with Julian. Once they all got settled, off to sleep they went. The morning came quick. As Ann woke up, she walked out of her tent to hear Sara and Julian arguing. Ann said, “What in the world is going on!” Sara snapped back and said, “Why don’t you ask Julian where my bag is!” Ann calmly said, “Hey, calm down now. How do you know Julian took your bag?” Julian replied, “She doesn’t, because I didn’t take it!” Sara seethed, “Well, you were the first person up and you were laughing once you saw me come out of the tent!” Ann looked at Julian and said, “Julian, if you took the bag, could you please just give it back?” Julian turned and looked at Ann and said, “I didn’t take it! I was laughing because she looked like she got into a fight with a squirrel!” Sara was looking pretty rough; she mustn’t have slept great. In an attempt to keep the peace, Ann suggested that they all look for the bag while they wait for the others to wake up. After about thirty minutes of looking, the others started to wake up and there was no sign of Sara’s bag. Sara asked, “Well, what am I supposed to do? That bag has all my stuff in it!” Ann told her that maybe it would turn up, but for now she could use some of her stuff and if they couldn’t find it in a day or two, they would cut the trip short and go home early. Everyone else agreed that that sound- ed like a good idea and sat on the wood logs while Sally and Julian started breakfast. Again, something in Ann’s stomach was yelling at her and from the looks of the others, they felt it too.
