Ablaze Spring 2025 2

After they heard the men walk away, they stayed in the cabin for about five minutes so they knew they’d be gone before sneaking back into the outhouse. They were sure that’s where they’d find Sara. The three sneaked back over to the outhouse and opened up the hatch. They walked quietly down the long hall listening to make sure they didn’t hear any other voices. They felt they were in the clear. Once they got to the end of the long hall, they entered this room. The room was a decent size and had a table with cards on it, a little kitchen and a sitting area. They also noticed a couple doors. They decided to split up and each check the doors. Stanley opened the one door and saw it was just a bathroom behind the door. Ann opened her door and saw it was just an empty bedroom, so she went in and in- vestigated. Julian’s door was locked, but Julian knew how to pick locks; he found some paper clips and a knife and started. Stanley stood behind him keeping an eye out. As Ann was searching her room, she got to a closet. She opened the closet and next thing you know, arms popped out and snatched her in the closet. Julian and Stanley finally got the door open and there she was! Sara was unconscious and chained to a table. The two ran in there calling out for Ann saying they found her! After a few minutes, they realized Ann hadn’t come. While Ann was in the closet, she was trying to figure out what the person wanted. Who was this person? Why was he there? Why was he telling her to hush? Was she going to die? The hands felt too gentle for her to be in danger, so she looked over and asked, “What do you want?” and he whis - pered back, “You shouldn’t be here! It’s dangerous; you need to go!” She asked him if he’d seen Sara, and he told her that Sara wasn’t doing well and she needed to get out of there before she was next. As she was listen- ing to the voice, she realized it was the creepy guy who stopped by their site earlier. She told him, “I just want to get my friend and we’ll be on our way; I promise we won’t tell; just please don’t hurt us!” He responded say - ing, “It’s not me you have to worry about; I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t even want to be here myself; it’s them you have to worry about.”
