University of Puget Sound 7 The CWU Department of Art + Design has a realistic expectation for enrollment in this new degree program at 10 students per year over the next four years. This enrollment expectation aligns with the number of students graduating with this same degree from the other regional institutions within the state. Conclusion: An Art History degree is a cornerstone degree option within a liberal arts institution such as Central Washington University. Though it remains a degree of broad subject matter, the interdisciplinary nature of the degree supports the stated goals of the university, and the work that has been done within the Department of Art + Design to develop a degree that is sensitive to the DEI work that has and continues to be done at CWU makes offering this degree option a positive addition to our academic community. This degree proposal has set realistic expectations for enrollment, while the department has already laid the groundwork to implement the coursework without the need for any additional faculty costs. By adding this degree option to our available majors, CWU will more closely align itself with our peer institutions within the state and will be able to attract students that might otherwise attend elsewhere to earn this degree. Because of the amount of growth seen by the department in the past five years and the cost-neutral proposal of this degree the creation of a Bachelor of Art in Art History should be seen as a positive addition.
