Editor’s COMMENT MAKING THE MOST OF MARKET OPPORTUNITIES IN 2025 Welcome to our December/January edition. What will 2025 bring for Ireland’s electrical sector? Opportunity for installers and contractors well positioned to participate in decarbonisation projects if the Ireland and UK budgets are anything to go by. Announced on October 1, the Irish budget outlines government support packages for the retrofitting of social homes and residential and community investment in energy efficiency, as well as a reduction in VAT for heat pumps. The UK Autumn Budget, unveiled on October 30, lays out planned investment in industry, housing, electric transport and trade apprenticeships, with decarbonisation again a focus in alignment with the transition to net zero. For stakeholders seeking to enter or expand their presence in renewables, our BEPEX tradeshows incorporating ELECTEX offer a great opportunity to get hands on with the latest technology and chat through solutions with key brands and your peers. New venues have been announced for the 2025 shows, with ELECTEX BELFAST coming to the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Balmoral Park on April 9-10, and ELECTEX DUBLIN to the Sports Arena in Blanchardstown on September 10-11. To our readers and advertisers, thank you for your support in 2024 and we wish you health, happiness and buoyant trade in 2025. Alyson Magee
