POWERING UP ENNISKILLEN’S EDUCATION PROVISION

DELIVERING A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FIT-OUT AT THE £22M NEW-BUILD SCHOOL, BRAHAM GROUP LED A TEAM OF IN-HOUSE ELECTRICIANS AND SPECIALIST SUB- CONTRACTORS SUPPLYING INNOVATIVE LIGHTING AND AUDIO-VISUAL SOLUTIONS…

Devenish College in Enniskillen takes pride of place in Braham Group’s growing portfolio of education projects in partnership with main contractor Glasgiven Contracts Ltd. A supplier of electrical and mechanical contracting as well as street and flood lighting services, the Warrenpoint-based business delivered a complete electrical fit-out for the £22m new-build school. Representing a sizable contract for Braham Group, the project featured both pandemic-related challenges and opportunities for innovation. Funded by the Department of Education and delivered through the Education Authority’s Major Capital Works Programme, ground was broken for the new 800-pupil school in July 2019,

with completion originally scheduled for November 2021. However, the arrival of the pandemic in early 2020 and its impact on the availability of both labour and supplies ultimately delayed completion until October 2023. Designed by Isherwood + Ellis, the new school features three distinct blocks and a sports complex with a four-court hall, changing rooms, fitness suite, classroom, synthetic, rugby and soccer pitches, tennis courts and a multi-use games area. Block A houses technology and design and home economics suites, science labs, and ICT, maths, art and general classrooms. Block B runs downhill between Block A and Block C, and features a general

reception area and visitor entrance, staffroom, principal and vice principal offices, library and learning support suite along with modern languages, history, geography, RE and general classrooms. A music suite in Block C includes a recording studio, practice rooms, drama suite with green-screen technology and English, media, business, study and careers rooms, an assembly hall, kitchen and cafeteria.

With its electrical fit-out spanning 11,400sqm of floorspace, Braham

Group has executed a complex project encompassing switchgear, power, lighting and life safety systems including CCTV and fire, disabled refuge and intruder alarms. The electrical contractor coordinated
