PROJECT PROFILE

DEVENISH COLLEGE, ENNISKILLEN

a team of 25 on site at any one time, typically its own site supervisor, site manager and 10-15 electricians alongside 10 sub-contractors. Among specialist businesses Braham Group partnered with to deliver its electrical installation were life- safety systems provider Crane Communications, audio-visual specialist MGA Communication and Thorn Lighting. Standout services include multipurpose stage lighting and audio-visual systems for the school’s music and theatre productions, external lighting for the car parks and pathways, and addressable self-test emergency lighting. Matt Beattie, Contracts Manager at Braham Group, said, “The emergency lighting system included a central management software which can monitor each individual emergency light to establish its condition and battery health. “The system completes automatic testing of each individual light fitting and records the status in the emergency lighting logbook. This provides the

school with the ability to review the emergency lighting installation in a simple and less time-consuming manner.” Braham Group has worked with the main contractor on many other education projects, including a three-school package at Braidside IPS in Ballymena, Woodburn PS in Carrickfergus and Rossmar Special School in Limavady. The Devenish College project represents another successful collaboration, which ran smoothly with the main challenges stemming from the pandemic. “Due to Covid and the restrictions put in place, social distancing in particular, there were limits to the labour we could have on site at any given time,” said Matt. “There was also disruption to manufacturing processes and supply of key materials. Ultimately this impacted the programme, which resulted in an additional 12 months on site.” As one of the less-accessible parts of Northern Ireland, Enniskillen also proved challenging in terms of both finding labour and getting trades and specialist sub-contractors to service the site. With such challenges successfully

navigated, the project stands out in Braham Group’s portfolio due to its size, scale, value and contribution to the enhancement of Enniskillen’s educational provision. Other sectors serviced by the Braham Group include residential, commercial, industrial, and sports, street and flood lighting. Further recent projects include infrastructure and zero-energy partnerships with Translink and office fit- outs for Santander, while the contractor is again partnering with Glasgiven Contracts on the electrical fit-out of its new HQ in Banbridge.
