Leading UK multi-channel electrical distributor CEF has celebrated its landmark 100th TechTalk on October 31 at the prestigious Culloden Estate and Spa in Belfast. This event, a highlight of the fourth series of TechTalks, marks a significant milestone for the platform, which has become a cornerstone of support, education and collaboration for the electrical industry. The fourth series of TechTalks has toured 20 locations across the UK, delivering valuable insights on critical industry updates and fostering connections among professionals. Running from September 3 to November 21, the series has explored essential topics including changes to BS 5839 non-domestic fire alarms, updates to BS 5266 emergency lighting standards, and amendments to BS 7671 wiring regulations. It has also addressed fire protection
considerations in domestic battery storage systems and the BAFE scheme introduced in response to the second Grenfell report. Alongside these updates, the series has emphasised an interactive theme, ‘Have Your Say’, which offers attendees the chance to contribute to discussions on standards and innovations shaping the future of the industry. The 100th TechTalk in Belfast was hosted by Darren Staniforth, Head of Electrotechnical Solutions at CEF, and Dave Austin, Technical Presenter. The engaging session attracted electricians and industry professionals from the region. To commemorate the milestone, attendees enjoyed a celebratory cake and participated in prize draws, with exciting rewards including a Subcold drinks fridge, £100 Amazon voucher, £100 Red Letter Days gift card, smart lighting kit, Sunsynk Contour portable
power station, and a LINIAN Earth Rod Pro SDS+ Driver. Reflecting on the milestone, Darren said, “We had an amazing time in Belfast for our 100th event with a great turnout of electricians from the local area. TechTalks were created in response to the rate of change within our industry – either through new innovations or the development of standards. “We wanted to create a platform that supported contractors and installers with the information and updates they need to keep up. We’re excited that our fourth series of TechTalks also provides them with an opportunity to communicate the changes they’d like to see to standards going forwards.” Since its inception in April 2022 at Wolverhampton Racecourse, TechTalks has become a trusted resource for the electrical industry. Across its first 100 events, it has visited 39 hotels, 32 football stadiums, 21 racecourses,
