IEBA FUNDRAISER

A SUCCESSFUL INAUGURAL CYCLING EVENT, HELD AT KILLALOE, CO CLARE ON SEPTEMBER 20, HAS RAISED CLOSE TO €30,000 FOR THE IRISH ELECTRICAL BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION… Dash of the Derg set to return for 2025

An inaugural charity cycling event is set to become a regular fixture on the fundraising calendar of the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA) after raising close to €30,000 for the charity. Organised by the Irish Electrical Cycling Club (IECC), the Dash of the Derg invited individuals and teams of electrical industry colleagues, family and friends to participate in a 116km route around the scenic Lough Derg.

A relatively-flat route enabled cyclists of all levels to have an enjoyable day at the event, held on September 20. IECC members organising the event included Stephen McManus (Lidacel), Michael Bissett (Hager), Diarmuid McStay (REW), Andrew Clifford (JV Tierney) and Dan Fisher (IEBA, Core Distribution). Funds were raised through sponsorship, event entry and donations, with individuals and teams entering at a cost of €100 per person.

“The feedback we’ve received from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, which has been both gratifying and inspiring for all of us at IECC.”
