Madhu Bhatt entertained other offers, but decided that the Bélanger family was “the right fit” for the franchise, considering their knowhow and experience. Between the three of them, they have close to 100 years of experience in the automobile industry. At 72, it was hard for the motor engineer to keep pushing back the age of retire- ment. “I have reached a stage in life where I needed time off for myself and my family.” Of course, he will miss the clients and his employees. He wishes to acknowledge es- pecially Hélène Martin who has been with the dealership since its opening in 1986. “It’s been a very good journey,” he said, thanking the residents of Rockland for their warm welcome and support throughout
the years. “I was very fortunate.” He is also very proud of the Customer Satisfaction awards won by Crystal Chrysler every year for the past 20 years. The Bélanger family is very well-known in the automobile industry throughout East- ern Ontario. Marcel Bélanger, the father, has over 50 years of experience. In 1976, he founded Bélanger Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Hawkesbury. In 1988, he acquired Cornwall Motors Sales. The triangle was complete in 1997 when he acquired the Voyageur Pon-
tiac-Buick dealership in Orléans (Marcel Bé- langer Pontiac-Buick-GM). “We are very excited to start a new chap- ter in Rockland,” said Luc Bélanger. The fu- ture looks bright for the franchise. Clarence- Rockland is growing and Chrysler has a very good product line. Proud of the Bélanger reputation and track record, the owners are ready to prove to customers that they are ready to deal. “There will always be a Bélanger in the premises to talk to,” says Luc Bélanger.

Last Friday, he handed the keys to the new management team, headed by Luc Bélanger and his brother, Marc. Even though he is retired, Marcel Bélanger will also give a helping hand to his two sons. “I’m absolutely delighted to pass the flame to the Bélanger family,” said Madhu Bhatt. “The dealership will be in very good hands.”
