Flipping the HR Script with an Employer of Record This isn’t really one person’s story, but it could easily be anyone’s in global HR. It’s a story heard time and again from professionals who receive that wonderful call from a hiring manager: “Great news! We’ve just found a fantastic new hire to join the team! And they’re available to start on Monday! Now they are in a foreign country, so if you could just… you know… do the necessary?… Thanks very much.” I t is remarkable how often HR hears about these hires only “Oh, by the way, could HR sort out making them legally employed in a country where we’ve never operated before, please?” Of course, it isn’t always about a brand-new hire. Sometimes it’s that after the fact. The role is agreed, the candidate is on board with it, the champagne corks are popping, and then someone remembers:
