New 175,000 s/f distribution center at 7303 Cushing Rd. FedEx Ground opens new station in Manassas

anassas, VA — FedEx Ground re- cently began oper-

ating from a new 175,000 s/f distribution center at 7303 Cushing Rd. in Manassas. The new facility joins an existing station in Chantilly, enabling FedEx to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the Northern Virginia area. The station opened with 69 new em- ployees, and the company will add to the overall area workforce as necessary to support increased demand for service. The site was chosen be- cause of its ease of access to major highways, its proxim- ity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for re- cruiting employees. The new facility is part of a nation- wide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capa- bilities of the FedEx Ground network. Since 2005, the company has opened 11 new hubs featuring advanced material-handling systems and expanded or relocated more than 500 local facilities. The network enhancements have resulted in accelerat- ing ground service delivery by one day or more in more than 70 percent of the United States. With these changes, FedEx Ground is faster to more overall locations, in- cluding more residential loca- tions than the competition. n DRE leases office space in Hampton Roads’ Southside VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Virginia Business Systems leased 8,230 s/f of office space at Battlefield Lakes Tech Center III located at 521 Byron Street in Chesapeake. The lease negotiations with the landlord, 34th Street, LLC, were handled by Kris- ta Costa and Katherine Olson of Divaris Real Es- tate’s (DRE) Virginia Beach office. SJS Execut i ves , LLC leased 3,060 s/f of office space in Reflections I located at 2809 South Lynnhaven Rd. in Virginia Beach. Lease ne- gotiations with the landlord, Joe Counts, were handled by Olson and Costa. n
