140 new hires in FCC spe- cializations which include Governance, Sanctions and Controls in 2 Gateway Center by the end of 2016. Located in the same build- ing with the Information and Technology Operations (ITO) team, the FCC team will work in an “agile work- ing environment” that is designed to promote interac- tion and collaboration across both teams, and ensure that processes and technology reinforce the performance of anti-financial crime systems and controls.

“The growth of the Ameri- cas FCC team is a critical investment that underscores our ongoing commitment to our conduct and compliance programs,” said Julio Rojas, regional CEO, Americas. “I look forward to welcoming the additional talent and am excited at how our expansion will contribute to the vibrant Newark community.” StandardChartered opened its New Jersey offices in 2008 with over 250 staff members. Today, it accounts for more than 72,000 s/f at 2 Gate- way, and houses close to 600 staff in Newark’s downtown business district. The bank’s decision to expand its facility in Newark is an acknowl- edgement of the city’s status as a major transportation hub with convenient access to the New Jersey workforce, the international airport and mass transit systems, as well as its many celebrated enter- tainment venues, cultural institutions and historical landmarks. “We are proud to welcome Standard Chartered Bank’s latest expansion in down- town Newark, which will add 140 new jobs to our City. Since 2008, Standard Chartered Bank has been an outstanding corporate partner in Newark’s growth and development, and we are delighted that they, like so many other investors from as close as New Jersey and as far as the United King- dom, are learning what we already knew: Newark 3.0 is becoming a reality, and they are joining our efforts to transform Newark into a prosperous City we – and the entire world – can believe in,” said Mayor Baraka. Standard Chartered is a leading international bank- ing group, with more than 86,000 employees and a 150- year history in some of the world’s most dynamic mar- kets. Their history in the US dates back to 1902, and they are currently present in 13 locations throughout the Americas (six in the Unit- ed States). Their Americas franchise focuses on finan- cial institutions and select corporates, and plays a key role in facilitating trade and investment flows between the Americas and the Group’s core geographies of Asia, Af- rica, and the Middle East. n
