Full blue mock leather with gilt lettering and vignettes. Stunning black and white illustrated endpapers, as well as 12 colour plates and 17 line drawings. A near fine copy, with few small spots to the page edges, but remaining bright. [46101] £400 A most striking book. Rackham has a real affinity with Poe’s tales, not- ing that whilst working on this book the illustrations, “were so horrible I was beginning to frighten myself.”
