Israel as His people, and because of this relationship, He “raised up judges” for them. The judges did not act merely in judicial capacities, but were deliverers raised up for their Special purpose of rescuing Israel from the hands of “ spoilers that spoiled them.” Whenever Israel," un der the weight of the punishment God sent upon them, turned back to God with repentance, the jhdges were raised up to deliver from the punish ment. Israel is today undergoing God’s punishment, while He waits for them to repent finally and turn back to Him. At that time their deliverance will be complete, and .they w ill fulfill God.’s purpose concerning His chosen people. "The children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land" (Judg. 2:6). This particular statement emphasizes the fact that each individual man in Is rael had a place to occupy in the Promised Land. Each man was invest ed with a sacred responsibility to do his bit. Today each believer must pos sess the particular blessings that God has assigned to him. Each one must receive personally the victory avail able for every child of God. Points and Problems 1.

When Joshua and the generation of elder men died, the people were without any true guide, because they had not entered experimentally into the faith and spirit of their fathers. There was left only a generation “which knew not the Lord” in their own experience. To follow others who know the Lord is good. But unless this faith is made personal, the ideals for which the oth ers stood are in danger of being de stroyed, and the prosperity which they enjoyed is likely to cease. This prin ciple is seen in our own country. The early generations made the country by their following
