Conclusion Let the leader sum up the discus sion by -emphasizing the necessity of religion in the heart and not merely in the head. Our spiritual resources as a nation cannot be effectual until there is a nation-wide return to God, to the Bible, and to genuine Holy Spirit Christianity. Let each ask him self this question: Am I a Christian? If so, what kind?'
itual condition. In 1 Kings 19:4 we read about Elijah’s experience under the juniper tree. This is a good ex ample of bodily neglect. He was phys ically exhausted and was in need of rest and food. Therefore God put him to sleep and later sent an angel to feed him so that he was re-created or restored. III. THE KINDS OF RECREATION. Recreation may be found in walk ing, riding, running, and camping. It may-.be found also in music, litera ture, and with pets. There are games of skill, and games of physical endur ance. One may participate in a num ber of these just for the fun of it, or one may choose one outstanding sport and keep that as his hobby. A ll of these sports re-create by de veloping cooperation, team work, fair play, honesty, love of nature and of, animal life. Perhaps nowhere else js character so clearly revealed as on 'the playground or in the camp. To the city dweller a day in the open country brings deep satisfaction to mind and body, IV. THE TEST OF, RECREATION. John Wesley’s mother wrote to him when he was in college concerning this very subject. “Would you judge the lawfulness of a pleasure, take this rule: “Whatever 1weakens yourj reason, impairs the tenderness of your con science, obscures your sense of God, or takes away the-relish of spiritual things, whatever increases the author ity of your body over your mind, that thing is wrong.” At work or at play, Christ alone satisfies the one who bears in mind that his body is the temple of the liv ing God. The Lord longs to be in all that touches our lives. We are quick to take to Him our sorrows. Shall we grieve Him by shutting Him out of our pleasures? He will show us the “path of life,” in His “presence is fulness of joy,” at His “right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psa. 16:11).

Let us suppose that you havd been sitting all day in school. You have been studying very hard and you are tired. What is the first thing that you want? You want some kind of recrea tion by which to relax.' You certainly would enjoy a good, hard game of basketball or volleyball with the rest of the. team, or you would like even a fast game of tennis with your friend on the neighborhood, court.' For you, recreation is a necessity.. For Those Who Hove Topics I. THE NEED OF RECREATION. There is an obvious and vital need for recreation in this strenuous age. Even our government is conscious of the need and is making provision for recreation for our boys in the service. It has been stated that “recreation plays an important and vital part in America’s struggle for victory.” For the recreation of the people of Amer ica there have been provided Recrea tion Centers which are scattered all vover the land. War workers and busi ness men are working long and tedi ous hours. They need recreation to make them fit to hold their positions. A ll of our school curriculums include supervised play. It is impossible to think of America apart from her rec reational pursuits. God Himself, in foreseeing man’s need of recreation, instituted the Sab bath for rest. Our Lord, while on earth, said, to His weary disciples,’ “Come ye apart... and rest a while” (Mk. 6:31). ID THE PURPOSE OF RECREATION. Recreation means to “recreate, create anew, renew, refresh, relax, divert, and to enjoy.” We know that our body and spirit are interdependent, and that God would not have us neglect either one. I. - WHAT IS THE RIGHT CROWD? The Lord Jesus taught plainly that each of us must be in one or the other of two crowds. He said in Matthew 6;24: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he w ill hold
