is by Interpretation, A stone” (John 1:42).? *4 JesUs *\vas telling Simon that his sand-like nature could be solidified. Jesus-was saying to him, “Simon, I can see ‘The Possible You,’ and if you will lf&Me, I w ill make you into what you ought to be, making it possible for you to realize life’s purpose.” I believe the Lord Jesus is as much concerned today in getting hold of lives to bring the best out of them as He was in the days of His flesh when He spoke to Peter. —Vincent Bennett. Unleashed Power “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, re member me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Lk. 23:42, 43). From the cross this man, whose name we do not even know, speaks to my heart, revealing to it the blessed truth that . . . whatsoever my need may be, to be conscious of and to con fess this need unleashes the mighty power of Him who hung upon that cross and paid the price of atonement for my guilt, and opened the paradise of God’s grace for all my need. —Sabra E. — ■ " / Christ before the Throne—he feels himself but the channel through whom a current passes, whose source is the Holy Spirit in his heart, whose final outpour is through our great High Priest into the hosom of the Father . . . Prayer becomes no more mere timipl-asking; it is claiming and lay ing hold on blessinjg. Nay, it is wait ing for and welcoming the, blessing, as a returning stream from the heart of God, pouring back into and through the heart of the suppliant. While he calls, God answers . . . prayer is not only speaking to God, but hearing Him speak.—A. T. Pierson. 5. A Life Relationship “And this is the victory that over- cometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). Faith is the instrument which brings the victory; faith is the positive fact of the spiritual; faith is the reality of the life of the Son of God in the soul. Now, what is faith? you ask. In this case, it is not, belief in the possibility, but conviction of the actuality of life “ in God.” It is a matter of keeping the positive fact constantly before the mind and heart, of living in the con stant, uninterrupted consciousness of the life of the Son o f Gbd. It is just a matter of outlook on life. If the life of God is in you, then •everything in your life is related to Him. He provides1 your food and clothing, your health and occupation. He guides your footsteps and protects you from danger. You wash dishes or • tap a typewriter for Him. You laugh with the joy of God in your soul and weep with divine sympathy. —Newman Watts. 6. The Love Motive “As the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Eph. 6:6, 7), ■Our service to God is’not acceptable unless' we do it with %? heart of love for Christ . . . It glorifies service and lifts it to a higher plane when we see that we are rendering service to our fellow men not.as ,untp them but as unto God. When we get to the place that, we show our appreciation be cause we really love our brethren and because we love God, our service is lifted to a higher plane. I believe God w ill place His approval on such service.—Steele C. Smith. 7. fulfillment Through Yielding ’ “Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which .

1. The Ever-Attenfive One “O thou that hearest prayer, upto thee shall all flesh oorne” (Psa. 65:2), A wonderful fact concerning God is stated in this verse. He is: a God who is mindful of our needs and our trials. . . . David states that this is characteristic of God. For that very reason all flesh will turn to Him, even as we see them do today, on rafts in the midst of the sea, in the fox-holes ■and on the battle fronts, and in the homes of the rich and of the poor, as they are stricken ■with sorrow and anxiety. Who can measure the comfort and strength that comes into millions of burdened hearts today because God is such a God as this! —Bible Banner.. A Wise Decision . “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” (Psa. 37:4). Whate’er I ask, I surely know And steadfastly believe, Thou wilt the thing desired bestow, Or else a better give. To Thee, I therefore, Lord, submit My'every fond request, And own, adoring at Thy feet, s Thy w ill is always best. —Charles Wesley. 3. Conquering Trials “Beloved, think it not strange, con cerning the fiery trial which is to try you, /as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice . , .” (1 Pet. 4:12, 13). God never gives strong faith with out fiery trial; He w ill not build a strong ship, without subjecting it to very mighty storms; He will not make you a mighty warrior, if He does not intend to try your skill in battle. The sword of the Lord must be used . . . If we have sharpened our swords on the cross, we have nothing whatever to fear; for though we may be some times cast down and discomfited, we shall assuredly at last put to flight all our adversaries, for we are the sons of God even now. —Charles Haddon Spurgeon. 1. Into the Holiest “Having therefore, brethren, bold ness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus . . . Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith” (Heb. 10:19, 22). » When a saint understands t h a t prayer has three intercessors—the in terceding Spirit within, the interced ing suppliant, and the interceding. 2.
