development can do that. I start every day by pressing play on something positive.”
Seville has mapped out a five-step process for building his Melaleuca business that he calls the Power 5. Step one is adding to your contact list. “It needs to be a number that’s not overwhelming,” Seville says. “About 99% of my organization is made up of part-time builders, so for us, that number is two a week. And I tell them, ‘Who do you want to work with? Who’s on your dream team? That’s where you start.’” Step two is inviting two people and following up with two people. “It’s easy to get excited about reaching out and inviting,” Seville says, “but the fortune is in the follow- up. It’s got to turn into muscle memory.” Step three is personal development. “It’s not your mentor’s or your support team’s job to motivate you,” Seville explains. “You've got to be self-motivated, and personal
Corporate Director 4 Mark Atha summed it up best. “It’s been too long since we’ve been able to get together like this,” he said to a capacity crowd. “There’s nothing like the energy of being together. It just doesn’t feel the same on a video call. We don’t have as much fun on video calls as we do in person.” Professional and personal development have always been a priority at Melaleuca, and with the ADVANCE Regional Conferences, those opportunities come to you as Melaleuca goes on the road to bring expert training to new and seasoned business builders alike. They offer a unique chance to be mentored by some of Melaleuca’s most successful Presidential, Corporate, National, and Executive Directors and to hear fromMelaleuca’s management team in a more intimate setting that’s not too far from home. The Arizona ADVANCE was no exception. Here’s just a sample of the kind of coaching you can expect when you attend ADVANCE. Developing Leaders Traveling from Overland Park, Kansas, National Director 9 Seville Ko was the first to address the rapt crowd. With more than 9,000 Members in his organization, he was the perfect Marketing Executive to talk about successfully building a Melaleuca business. For Seville, success starts with what he calls self-leadership. “You’ll never lead a team until you master leading yourself,” he says. “I want you to have the posture that you are the answer to someone else’s problems.” For Seville, that posture comes from understanding Melaleuca’s products and business opportunity. “I don’t play business,” he explains. “This is someone’s life on the line. When I’m involved, they are giving me their goals, their dreams, and their aspirations. I take that very seriously.”
The fourth step you need to take is encourage someone on your team. “Become a professional encourager,” Seville implores. “There will be a lot of people who feel left out on your team when others are succeeding. You want your team to feel welcome no matter what pace they run.” Seville’s fifth and final step is expressing gratitude. “No one here has success on their own,” he explains. “We’re all standing on each other’s shoulders, so you have to take everything with gratitude.” Seville also emphasizes patience. “You have to start with something you can sustain,” he says. “Tools can help you get customers, but time is what develops leaders. You have to invest time in your leaders. People only move when they feel connected.”
