Professor Alan Hawkes, Hawkes Centre for Empirical Finance The department is home to the world-renowned Professor Alan Hawkes whose exciting point process became famous under the title of ‘Hawkes processes’. In the 1970s Professor Alan Hawkes developed a series of statistical and mathematical processes now known as the ‘Hawkes Processes’ which are used widely by a number of disciplines especially in the area of finance. Some police forces today also use the Hawkes Processes to predict where crimes are likely to occur.

Accredited by professional bodies, our accounting and finance degrees will exempt you from various professional exams when you graduate, giving you a head start in your chosen career.
