Paint it, Black (andwhite) The Rolling Stones need no introduction, having been part of the global rock ‘n’ roll scene since 1963. Fifty-one years later, the band is still going strong. Now, for the first time, Stones’ fans have the opportunity to own a piece of music and photographic history: a stunning set of limited edition portraits of Mick Jagger, CharlieWatts, RonnieWoods and Keith Richards, taken by celebrated photographer Michael Donald

W hen acclaimed photographer Michael Donald was commissioned to shoot the Rolling Stones, he broke the rule about never meeting your idols because they always disappoint. Luckily for this 47-year-old, who is launching his first collection with Castle Galleries this spring, these stalwarts of rock ‘n’ roll were the exception to that rule. When Donald was approached by Passion

Pictures to do some stills for a film they were producing about the making of the double album Exile On Main Street, he didn’t have to think twice about accepting. “I saw it as an opportunity to shoot some proper portraits of the band,” explains the photographer, who has captured myriad celebrities on film in his career. “I didn’t think the band would normally agree to sit for individual portraits like this so it was a very exciting project to work on.”
