COUGARS WINNING STREAK BROKEN

The Cougars’ second winning streak of the season was broken after nine wins in a row. A month-long winning streak that spanned four weeks and nine games has unfortu- nately come to an end after the Cougars went up against les Aigles de Saint-Isidore and the Cumberland Castors this past weekend. The first game on November 11 saw the Cougars against les Aigles, and everything was going great. The Cougars built up an early lead with three goals in the first period, and les Aigles couldn’t make that up no matter how hard they tried. The Cougars won the game with a score of 5-1. Their goals were scored by Andy Lightle- Blais, Malcolm Seguin, Mathieu Belanger, and Maxime Laliberte, assisted by Zachary Sullivan and Jake Lalonde. The trouble came at the second game on November 12 against the Cumberland Castors. The Cougars once again built up a lead in the first period with two goals to Cumber- land’s none, but the Castors fought back viciously in the second. Stonewalling the Cougars from further goals and racking up three of their own, the two teams battled it out in the third period with no clear winner and went into their first overtime. Neither team was making any headway and so a second overtime period was

C’est le mercredi 8 novembre qu’avait lieu les finales de basketball féminin junior de la ligue de Prescott-Russell à l’école secondaire de Russell. Les Kodiaks de L’ESCRH ont d’abord remporté la demi-finale par la marque de 29-22 contre l’école secondaire catholique St-Francis Xavier de Hammond. Lors de la finale, les Kodiaks affrontaient l’équipe des Timberwolves de l’école secondaire de Russell. Ce fut une chaude lutte jusqu’à la fin mais les Kodiaks ont remporté le match à l’arraché par la marque de 26-25. L’entraîneur de l’équipe, Mme Isabelle Pageau mentionne que l’esprit d’équipe, la discipline ains que la combativité des joueuses a été gage de succès. L’équipe représentera maintenant la ligue de Prescott-Russell lors du championnat de l’Est de l’Ontario EOSSAA qui aura lieu le mardi 21 novembre prochain. —photo fournie
