A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY AND TRADITION Saturdays in the Fall Filled With Ohio State Football With football season now underway and the Buckeyes starting strong with a few early wins, there’s an unmistakable buzz in the air across Ohio. As the excitement builds and hopes for a winning season grow, the cool, crisp embrace of autumn heralds not just the changing leaves but the much-anticipated arrival of Ohio State football. For many of us, Saturdays in the fall are about more than just the game. They’re a chance to come together with friends and family, to share in the highs and lows of each match-up, and to create lasting memories that transcend the field. The excitement of gathering around the TV or, even better, heading to “The Shoe,” unites us in a shared passion that knows no bounds. Each game day is filled with cherished rituals. From the moment we don our scarlet and gray gear to the time we hear the first notes of “Hang on Sloopy,” the thrill of game day ignites something special in our hearts. Tailgating has become a way to connect and celebrate. Whether it’s grilling up our favorite dishes or sharing delicious recipes passed down through generations, it’s the laughter and camaraderie that make these moments unforgettable. Reflecting on our journeys, I remember the joy of taking our kids to their first games — the awe in their eyes as they witnessed the spectacle of the marching band, the roar of the crowd, and the thrill of seeing their favorite players in action. It’s these experiences that create lifelong Buckeye fans and instill in them the values of teamwork, perseverance, and community.
This year, as we gather to cheer on our team, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the connections we’ve built through football. Just as the players rely on each other on the field, we, too, rely on our community to uplift and support us in all aspects of life. It’s a reminder that we are all part of something bigger — a family bound by shared experiences and mutual support. As we look forward to another exciting season, let’s celebrate not just the victories on the scoreboard but the bonds we strengthen along the way. Whether you’re tailgating with friends, sharing a meal with family, or reminiscing about past games, embrace the joy of being part of Buckeye Nation. So, here’s to another season of thrilling games, cherished memories, and the unbreakable spirit of Ohio State football. Let’s come together, support our team, and remember that, like in sports, teamwork is key to overcoming life’s challenges.
Go Bucks!

THE HIO STATE VS. ICHIGAN RIVALRY Almond Butter Buckeyes
The rivalry between Ohio State University and the University of Michigan is one of the most storied and intense in college football history. Often referred to simply as “The Game,” this annual matchup has become a defining feature of both schools’ football traditions, symbolizing not just competition on the field but also a deep-rooted rivalry that stretches back over a century. The origins of this fierce rivalry can be traced back to the late 19th century. The first game was played in 1897, with Michigan claiming victory. However, the early 1900s marked the beginning of a more competitive relationship between the two schools. Ohio State began to emerge as a formidable football program, and the stakes of their matchups grew higher. The rivalry intensified through the decades, particularly during the 1940s and 1950s, when both teams enjoyed considerable success. The 1969 game, in particular, is often cited as a pivotal moment in the rivalry. Under first-year head coach Bo Schembechler, Michigan defeated Ohio State 24- 12, snapping a two-year Buckeyes winning streak and igniting the fire of competition between the two programs. This game marked the start of a fierce era where each team sought to outdo the other year after year. In the 1970s and 1980s, the rivalry reached new heights, with both schools consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally. The matchups often had significant implications for the Big Ten Championship and the national rankings, further fueling fan passion. Notably, the 1975 game ended in a tie, a rarity that only added to the drama and excitement. The rivalry continued to evolve in the 1990s and 2000s, featuring legendary coaches like John Cooper and Jim Tressel for Ohio State and Lloyd Carr for Michigan. Each matchup became a must-watch event, attracting fans and alumni from all over the country. The series was highlighted by memorable moments, including dramatic last-minute victories and game-changing plays. In recent years, the rivalry has maintained its intensity, with both teams often vying for dominance in the Big Ten Conference. Ohio State has enjoyed a period of strong success, including multiple playoff appearances, while Michigan has worked to reclaim its status among the elite. The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry is not just a battle for supremacy on the field; it represents a clash of cultures and identities. The passionate fan bases, the iconic imagery of the two schools’ colors, and the storied history all contribute to the significance of “The Game.” It’s an event that transcends football, bringing together generations of fans and alumni who share a common bond in their allegiance to their respective teams. As each season approaches, anticipation builds for the next installment of this legendary rivalry. Whether you bleed scarlet and gray or are loyal to the maize and blue, there’s no denying that the Ohio State versus Michigan game is a highlight of the college football calendar — a true celebration of tradition, rivalry, and the spirit of competition.
INGREDIENTS
•
2 cups almond butter
• 16 oz dark chocolate • 1 tbsp coconut oil
• 4 tbsp honey • 4 tsp vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small bowl, combine the almond butter, honey, and vanilla extract. Mix until well incorporated. 2. Place the mixture in the freezer for 30 minutes. 3. Remove from the freezer and form into tablespoon- size balls. Place on parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Place back in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour until hardened. 4. Place back in the freezer for at least 1 hour to allow the chocolate shell to harden completely. 9. Remove the balls from the freezer 15 minutes before serving. Serve chilled so the chocolate does not melt.

4 Cheering for Akron’s Dance Team
Dancing Through Football A Proud Mom’s Story As fall football season kicks off, there’s excitement in the air for many reasons. For Rinehardt Injury Attorneys’ case manager, Stephanie Hunt, the season is particularly special because her daughter, Mariah, dances with the University of Akron dance team, cheering on the Zips at every game. Mariah’s dance journey began in Mansfield, where she spent 10 years training at a local dance studio in various styles, including hip hop, pom, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Her dedication and hard work led her to try out for the University of Akron dance team, and she successfully made the cut. While Mariah also performs at basketball games, community events, and national competitions in Daytona Beach, her favorite moments happen on the football field. She especially loves the electric atmosphere of game day, performing with the band during pregame and keeping the crowd energized from the sidelines throughout all four quarters. Her favorite performances are under the stadium lights during evening games, which she describes as a magical experience. One of Mariah’s most memorable moments was dancing at Ohio State’s Horseshoe for the OSU season opener against Akron, performing in front of over 100,000 fans — a thrilling experience that earned her some time on live TV.
Though she loves every performance, Mariah remains dedicated to cheering on her beloved Zips, no matter where the season takes her. Go Zips!
