Toxic sisterhood is a harsh reality that many women face but rarely discuss. Segametsi Ditlhale
As I share my story, I peel back the layers of this little-discussed issue, shedding light on how some women succumb to societal pressures from their female friends, leading to sexual violence and abuse, often within the context of clubs and social gatherings. It is high time we bring this underreported issue to the forefront of our conversations and explore ways to break free from the toxic cycle. “The strong bond between women is often celebrated for its capacity to provide support, strength, and camaraderie. However, underneath the surface of sisterhood lies a much darker reality – a toxic underbelly that ensnares women of all ages, making them unwitting victims of predatory behaviour, all in the name of conforming to a certain lifestyle.”
