T he UK’s leading electrical wholesaler, CEF, brought the third series of its popular TechTalks to Culloden Estate and Spa Hotel, Belfast on October 25. Hosted by Darren Staniforth, CEF’s Head of Technical Solutions and Technical Presenter Dave Austin, the fun, free and eye-opening technical seminar gave trade pros the inside scoop by providing the latest news and regulations with CPD-accredited training. In partnership with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), the series plugged into current industry trends, with seminar topics including the electrification of heat, thermal imaging, safe isolation and DC system safety. At the end of the TechTalk, the CEF Renewables team hosted a Q&A, geared up to assist those who wanted to up their game and dive into the renewables market.

Attendees got to check out and test a selection of cool new stuff from CEF suppliers. CEF also showed off its fresh Renewables division; arming trade pros with the knowledge and tools to meet their customers’ demands. Darren commented, “We were thrilled to see so many faces – old and new – at our TechTalk in Belfast. With over 100 contractors there, we could once again see how the trade community can come together to share insight, connect and commit to their own CPD. This time, we were joined by Steven Devine, Senior Engineer at The IET, as he spoke about the urgent need for help identifying the size of the problem with diverted neutral current as quickly as possible and how contracts can help by logging all potential problems on the IET website. “It was fantastic to see all our attendees getting involved in the EICR coding session, which always proves

popular. Everyone, including CEF staff, attempted to code the different scenarios with the new coding cards. The Q&A was also a great success, with some insightful questions and discussion topics explored. “Everyone from exhibitor to contractor really enjoyed this one, and we can’t wait to be back again with new topics in 2024.” CPD accredited CEF’s TechTalks are CPD accredited, meaning attendees can use information from the day as part of their ongoing professional development. Alongside the seminars, trade professionals received a CPD certificate, a pack of TechCards that act as a handy reference to the seminar topics and the chance to connect with over 20 supplier brands. www.cef.co.uk
