Creation Day 3: God creates the Earth using His Special Mayim Besides the protective benefits of Earth's magnetosphere, t here are s ix other major features of Earth that are so important and precisely designed and positioned by God that even if one of these features were significantly different, life on Earth - as we k now it - would be impossible !
• The Earth’s distance from the Sun – I f the Earth 's orbit were even a fraction closer or farther away from the Sun than it is, its temperature would be too hot or too cold for life to exist . • The size of the Earth – T he Earth has exactly the right amount of mass and gravity to hold a gaseous atmosphere. If the Earth were as small as Mars , it would lose its atmosphere. If it were as large as Jupiter , its atmosphere would be too dense to be usable for life. • The amount of water on Earth – 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. If the Earth were mostly land there would be extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night as well as between the seasons. • The Moon – God has carefully positioned the Moon in its orbit around the earth to perform 3 vitally important functions : 1. The m oon's close orbit (239,000 miles away) keep s the Earth’s rotation from wobbling. 2. The moon's gravity causes our four seasons by tilting Earth's rotational axis 23 1/2 degrees as we orbit around the sun. 3. The moon's gravitational pull is the primary reason for high and low tides, God’s provision for keeping the oceans clean.
