Day Three: God creates the Mayim for Earth's Oceans and Seas
The Science of Water (Mayim) Before declaring the completion of His task in creating all of the necessary chemical requirements (the mayim ) for sustaining life on Earth, God had to first provide a dependable means of transporting His newly created waters ( mayim ) from one place to another. Today, we call this important process - t he w ater c ycle.
The water cycle begins with the heat energy from the sun warming Earth's tropical oceans. The heated ocean waters evaporate (change from a liquid to a gas) trapping 540 calories of the sun's energy ( latent heat ) inside every molecule of water vapor that rises into the atmosphere above . The rising moist air condenses back into liquid clouds. Global winds move the clouds over land. Precipiation (rain, snow, hail and sleet) falls back to earth. Finally, the runoff from streams and rivers returns Earth's water back to the ocean .
