Day Three: God creates the Mayim for Earth's Oceans and Seas • God created warm ocean currents to redistribute tropical moist waters away from the equator toward the poles (so polar regions are not too cold) and cold oceans currents away from the poles back to the tropics (so the tropics are not too hot). • Without ocean currents, Earth's regional temperatures would be more extreme—super hot and very humid at the equator and frigid and very dry toward the poles—leaving much of Earth’s land uninhabitable.
Earth's major weather patterns are affected largely by the circulation of ocean currents. Carefully study the map above showing the relationship between the location of Earth's major ocean currents and water temperatures. • T he warm ocean currents form near the Earth's equator. Warm currents transport warm, moist air toward the north and south poles.
