Creation Day 3: God creates the "chemical" breath of life

Some amazing facts about the air we breathe.

• Breathing is the most important thing our body does. The air we breathe into our lungs contains 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen . • The air we exhale from our lungs contains 16 percent oxygen and 78% nitrogen - and also, up to 17.5 mililiters of water per hour . • God created h umans a s aerobic creatures , meaning we require oxygen to release energy to exist. Without oxygen, our cells wouldn’t be able to release the energy in the food we eat, and we would die within 3 to 6 minutes .

• Though 78% of air we breath into our lungs is nitrogen, nitrogen is not absorbed into our bodies by breathing . Humans and animals get 100% of their nitrogen from eating food. Nitrogen is an important component of amino acids, which are used to make up the proteins of our bodies. • Did you also know that 100% of the oxygen you breathe into your lungs is released by plants into the air by the process of photosynthesis ? • Also, 50 to 85 percent of the oxygen we take into our lungs doesn't come from land plants, but from tiny floating ocean plants called phytoplankton.
