Creation Day 4 God reveals His "heavenly clocks" in the night and day sky
Animal Migrations: God's Perfect Timing
Why do some animals migrate? God created migratory animals with the special ability to travel (long distances) back and forth between the best place s for feeding and the best place s for breeding as the seasons change. Canad a gees e are great examples of animals that migrate. Every fall they leave their northern homes in Canada and fly hundreds of miles south of the Canadian border to the exact 'warmer' location where they had wintered the previous year . Once spring arrives, th e geese take flight (usually on the same day) and return back home again to Canada.
Two big questions remain.
1. How can migrat ory animals, like the Canad a geese , know exactly where they’re going ? They can’t read maps or use compasses ! I t’s a very, very long way home, so how on earth do they navigate? 2. How do they know when it's time to travel north or south? The coming of spring is obvious because it brings lengthened days and warmer temperatures. But what about migratory birds like the osprey that winter on the equator or in the Southern Hemisphere? How do they know the exact day when to leave and make their 5000 mile journey back home to North America?
Scientists have recently discovered that all long-distance migratory animals seem to have an amazing internal clock which triggers their movements north and south. S ome birds, such as starlings, use the position of the sun to guide them and others, such as mallards navigate by the stars.
