Scientists estimate there are over 2 million separate species of animals on earth today. A species is defined a group of living things with similar body plans that can exchange DNA to produce viable offspring with similar traits. God has also programmed the DNA of each species of animal with the unique ability to genetically adapt to changes in their environment.
Though they may differ in size, shape, skin and hair color, they are all genetically dogs (Canis familaris), cats (Felis catus) and children (Homo sapiens).
All of the animals God created on earth are divided into two groups.
The list below provides an estimate of the number of species in each separate phyla of invertebrates and vertebrates living on Earth. Invertebrates -1.25 million species Cartilage Fish: 23,500 species Vertebrates - 66,178 species
