DNA Fact Sheet

The simplest unit of DNA, on the other hand, is the nucleotide, which can have four base chemicals: (A) adenine (T) thymine; cytosine (C); and guanine (G). Only A+T and C+G may form base pairs. The language of DNA is digital, not binary. Where binary encoding has 0 and 1 to work with, DNA has 4 positions, A, T, C and G. This increased variation means that each nucleotide of DNA can hold twice the digital information as a binary program. Comparing the Genetic Code of DNA to Binary Computer Code

A DNA molecule consists of two strands that form a double helix or a twisted ladder with sides made up of sugar and phosphate molecules . R ungs of nitrogen bases make up the steps of the ladder. DNA is composed of 4 different bases: Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Guanine (G). These bases are always paired in such a way that Adenine connects to Thymine, and Cytosine connects to Guanine. These pairings produce 4 different base pair possibilities: A-T, T-A, G-C, and C-G.
