Resting in God

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. ~ Philippians 4:4-8 written in 50 AD by the Apostle Paul The Science behind God's c ommand to set aside a day for " rest " While God guards our hearts, He also commanded all mankind to focus our lives on things that please God. In today's busy world, it's getting harder and harder to set aside a day to fully rest . Now science fully supports God's command to set aside a day of rest. Here are two great examples.

1. A day away from sitting too much gives you a chance to improve your health.

Research has linked sitting too long behind a computer with a number of major health concerns, including obesity, increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels and an increase d risk of heart disease. 2. A day spent relaxing with friends and family boosts your immune system by eliminating stress.

Research shows that chronic daily stress and inadequate exercise suppress your immune system. God wants all of us to spend at least one stress free day per week with family for extended R&R. Also, those who work without taking a day’s break will encounter “physical exhaustion and breakdown . "
