C reation Day One : "Let there be light!"

Genesis 1:3 "And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light."

It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. – Aristotle The person in the picture above was me watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean from the deck of our cruise ship. At that moment the vibrant colors that lit up the sky directly above the Atlantic's dark blue waters below gave me a sense of inner peace knowing that God , alone, is the Creator and Master D esigner of the universe . He paints this same masterpiece across the sky every single day - and why? Light is the nature and character of God. He created light to dispel the darkness and chaos ( Genesis 1:1–5) . God is not a light or a kind of light; He is light itself ( 1 John 1:5 ). All light comes from Him. I will begin this new chapter by asking you some thought provoking questions related to the achievements of f ive famous scientists from the past who dedicated their lives to answer ing one simple question : " What is light? " Match each scientist listed here with their individual achievement ( s ) in their studies of the properties of light. Are you ready? Let's begin. Albert Einstein - Galileo - James Clerk Maxwell - Isaac Newton - Michael Faraday

1. I was a firm believer that God created light and He is the sole Creator of the Universe.

2. I was the first scientist who attempted to calculate the 'speed of light'. I also invented the first reflecting telescope. Unfortunately I was accused of heresy for stating that the earth orbited the sun in an heliocentric orbit and placed under house arrest until I died. 3. I made the first glass prism that refracts white light into the rainbow colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. I also invented the first refracting telescope. 4. I suggested that an electrical current moving through a wire is simply a combination of the electric and magnetic lines of force. I also invented the first electric motor. 5. I demonstrated that a single beam of light (I named a photon) is a combination of electric and magnetic waves traveling through space at the speed of light. I calculated the speed of light to be 186,000 miles/sec or 300,000 miles/sec. 6. I explained that the speed of light remains constant throughout the universe. Only mass, distant and time are relative to their observers. I also proved that a small particle of matter contains an enormous amount of energy.
