3 4 3. Sir Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727) - I made the first glass prism that refracts white light into the rainbow colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. I also invented the first refracting telescope. Creation Day One: "Let there be light!"
4. Michael Faraday (1791 -1867) - I suggested that an electrical current is simply a combination of the electric and magnetic lines of force moving through a wire. I also invented the first electric motor using magnets, wire and a battery. Sir Isaac Newton also applied his law of gravity and his 3 laws of motion to explain Kepler’s discovery that a planet's orbit is elliptical rather than circular.
Faraday made his first discovery of electromagnetism in 1821. Unlike his contemporaries, Michael Faraday was not convinced that electricity was a fluid material that flowed through wires like water through a pipe. He placed a small magnet around a current-carrying wire and verified that the force exerted by the current on the magnet was circular. This phenomenon reveals that an electric current is a combination of both electric and magnetic fields.
