Chapter Four Genesis Chapter One - Creation Day One Verses Four and Five "God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day." ~ Genesis 1:4-5 NKJV
As seekers of truth, we must always keep in mind that the six days of Genesis, which have given people so many headaches in trying to understand science versus the Bible, are confined to just 31 sentences! According to the Bible, God " created the heaven s and the earth" on Day One of Creation Week ( Genesis 1:1) . He alone had at His fingertips unlimited options to accomplish His purposes. We must also realize that the events recorded in Genesis 1 were miraculously taking place outside of today's natural laws. Initially all was dark, until God said, "Let there be light" ( Genesis 1:3) . Mankind has long grappled with the mystery of how could there be light bathing the earth before the sun was created on Creation Day 4? Skeptics have ridiculed the science of biblical creation over this point. Obviously the Bible must be in error. But as always, this apparent error drives us to look more closely at the relevant data, both scientific and biblical . As we have just learned in Chapter 3, God created many sources of light, not just the sun. There are long-wave light sources that include radio waves, microwaves, infrared light, visible light and short-wave light sources that include ultraviolet light, X-rays, and gamma rays produced by nuclear reactions of atomic fission and fusion. Always remember, who is the source of all light ( 1 John 1:5 ).
