Microsoft Word - Genesis One New

Now let's meet our second highly qualified teacher who will lead us on our journey into understanding the science behind Creation Day Two , 7 1 Creation Day 2: The Stretching of the Raqia

Professor Gerald Schroeder . 1938 - I'm still here :)

My full name is Gerald Lawrence Schroeder, but my friends call me Gerry. I was born on February 20th, 1938 in New York City, the son of Herman Lincoln and Dorothy (Illman) Schroeder. I received my Bachelor of Science degree (1959), my Master of Science (1961) and a double Doctor of Philosophy degree in earth sciences and physics (1964), all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). From 1964 until 1969, I worked on staff as a research scientist for the Massachusetts Institute Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. From 1970 until 1971, I was the chief scientist at Ocean Technology, Inc., in Cambridge. Massachusetts. My career in science has also allowed me to witness some varied and often, very unusual experiences. During my early work (1960s) with the United States Atomic Energy Commission, I eye-witnessed the detonation of a long series of nuclear weapons. I was also placed hundreds of meters below the ground in both the U.S. and in foreign uranium mines. Within this research, I invented and had patented the first real time monitor for the airborne alpha beta gamma emitter (records the presence of radioactive substances on surfaces or within solids, liquids or gases). I have also been a consultant to agencies of the governments of China, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada and USA. The results of my work have been reported in Time, Newsweek, Scientific American and in newspapers as far apart as Boston and Adelaide. I emigrated (making aliyah) to Israel in 1971 where I met and married my wife, Barbara Sofer. We have five children and a changing number of grandchildren. As a research scientist, I joined the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Volcani Research Institute, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition to research in control of environmental radioactivity, I current ly teach the confluence of modern science and ancient Biblical wisdom at Aish HaTorah - the College of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. For the past twenty-five years, I have pursued an in depth study of the original ancient texts of the Bible. Combining my honed skills as a scientific researcher with my passion for seeking Biblical truth has given me insight into reconciling the the Biblical creation account recorded in Genesis One with the scientific evidence based on the effect of the stretching of space-time, based on Einstein's general relativity. I have had the blessing of publish ing four books: Genesis and the Big Bang , the discovery of harmony between modern science and the Bible: The Science of God ; The Hidden Face of God ; and, God According to God, the books appear in 11 languages.
