Creation Day 2: Why God Separated the Mayim

Now that we have some clues ( the periodic chart of elements ) as to the chemical make up of the waters ( mayim ) in Genesis 1:7 , we will next turn our attention to finding both biblical clues and scientific evidence explaining: • why God had to separate the waters ( mayim ) of the expanse ( raqia ); • and, if there are chemical difference s in the waters ( mayim ) below the expanse ( raqia ) from the waters ( mayim ) above the expanse ( raqia )?

If there is one picture I could show you that supplies a perfect visual showing why God decided to create two separate heavenly expanses, it's this one. If there is one single verse of scripture that explains the same principle, it is Psalm 19:1 : " The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims his handiwork." Daniel 12:3 makes our understanding of God intentions of creating two separate heavenly expanses even clearer. "And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the expanse; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever."
