Pen Pals Project at the Edgewater Library Make a new friend this summer! We’ll match you with a pen pal of similar age. Share letters about what you’re reading, your favorite summertime activities and more. Sign up at the Edgewater Library June 1 to 17, or visit aacpl.net/event/ pen-pals-project . On June 20, check your email for information about your new pen pal. Drop by the Edgewater Library to pick up a pen pals kit (as supplies last) with stationery and suggested conversation starters. From June 20 through August 31, write letters to your pen pal and drop them off at the Edgewater Library. We’ll send your letters via snail mail to your new friend.

Family-friendly acts only. R Learn to Fish Saturday, July 22 at 2 pm Learn how to fish with the Department of Natural Resources. Tie knots, create crafts and practice with fishing poles. Sing Together with Mr. Lilo Tuesday, August 8 at 10:30 am Lilo Gonzalez uses music to build community, find our common human threads, instill hope and fight for justice. ¡Venga a cantar con Mr. Lilo! Eastport-Annapolis Neck Monday, August 7 at 11 am Glen Burnie Saturday, June 10 at 11 am (includes storytime) Maryland City at Russett Saturday, July 22 at 1 pm Busch Annapolis ⚛ Making Reef Balls Team up with the Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland to create artificial reefs for the oysters of the Chesapeake Bay. On day one we will create reef balls and learn about the importance of the reefs to our environment. On day two watch the reefs “hatch” from the molds and see them off! Wear old clothes – things will get messy! Day 1: Building Artificial Reefs Friday, June 23 at 10 am Day 2: Hatching the Reefs Saturday, June 24 at 10 am The Annapolis Blend Summer Concert Tuesday, July 11 at 7 pm The Annapolis Blend chorus will present a concert for all ages. National Night Out Community Event Tuesday, August 1 from 6 to 8 pm Enjoy games, giveaways and free food, courtesy of our community partners. There will be something for everyone so be sure to stop by this fun, outdoor family event!
Decorate and pack a shoebox with items that will brighten someone’s day. These boxes will be donated to families in need. Items provided. Lights will be dimmed, activities provided, fidgets available and a limited number of families in the branch. 50 Years of Hip Hop with Dance Solutions Saturday, June 24 at 2 pm Dance Solutions returns to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop! Neurodiverse Gaming Saturday, July 22 at 2 pm Games of all types will be available with adaptations to make them accessible to those with a variety of abilities. Meet the Past: 250 Years of Libraries in Annapolis Saturday, July 29 at 2 pm Learn what libraries were like in colonial Annapolis and compare and contrast them to today’s public library system! Living historians from Historic Annapolis will also exhibit items besides books that people could find in a stationer’s shop. Echoes of Nature: Animals of Kung Fu Wednesday, August 2 at 10:30 am Meet the live animals of Echoes of Nature and learn how their movements have inspired traditional Kung Fu styles.

Tag @aacpl on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (make sure the photo is publicly viewable) and we’ll reshare! There will be one randomly drawn grand prize winner, as well as winners in these categories: • Farthest from Anne Arundel County • Most Exotic • Most Adventurous • Most Creative • Most “Maryland” • Most Literary Winners will be contacted via social media and must be able to pick up their prizes at an AACPL location. Submission deadline is August 20. The library reserves the right to use photos on social media and in promotional material.
