Between the Lions Imagine yourself standing between two full-grown lions. What do you do? We live between them every day. One lion represents legalism, extreme criticism and harsh judgment. The other represents licentiousness, the lack of self-control or concern for injustice. Sometimes we find ourselves holding more to one than the other. Sometimes we are pulled between the two. This does not mean that we ride the fence with indecision. Rather, we are being pressed to be gracious with ourselves when we have been self-righteously critical or when we have carelessly turned a blind eye.
Ecclesiastes 7:15-18 (NIV)
