Welfare at EVGC Supporting the Wellbeing of Every Gymnast

At Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club, the safety and wellbeing of our gymnasts is our highest priority. We are proud to have five nominated Welfare Officers who play a vital role in ensuring that our club remains a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children, young people, and adults at risk. What Our Welfare Officers Do: • Respond to child protection and poor practice concerns • Provide advice and support in implementing safeguarding procedures • Promote inclusive practices and encourage gymnast involvement in decision-making • Support coaches in understanding and responding to the emotional needs of their gymnasts All EVGC Welfare Officers: • Hold current DBS checks • Are members of British Gymnastics • Have completed safeguarding training and the compulsory “Time to Listen” course delivered by British Gymnastics • Participate in annual conferences and networking events to stay informed and connected Our Welfare Team works collaboratively when investigating concerns to ensure a fair, balanced, and consistent approach. Their guidance helps coaches create emotionally aware sessions where gymnasts feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.
