Exposure to hazardous noise levels in the workplace is a common occurrence, especially in industrial environments when tasks and machinery often generate noise levels in excess of 85db. At that level, the soundwaves can destroy or damage ear nerves and hair cells within the ears. The result can be permanent and irreversible hearing loss, which has a dramatic impact on quality of life. At Frontier, we have researched and developed a comprehensive range of hearing protection products that can reduce the risk of hearing loss. Our hearing protection products are designed to keep industrial noise below harmful levels, and our experienced sales team can advise and fit the best product for each worker and every job. All Frontier hearing protection devices are classed according to the SLC80 (Sound Level Conversion) rating system specified under Australian Standards AS/NZS 1270. This system was developed to ensure the most appropriate hearing protection device is selected to meet the particular environment. The SLC rating specified for each device represents the difference in the sound level between the sound at the source and the level reaching the ear, 80 per cent of the time. SLC ratings are used to determine the class system for all hearing protection devices. The higher the class, the higher the level of protection is achieved. Frontier’s comprehensive range of hearing protection devices extends to Class 4 and Class 5 ear muffs, which are made from quality materials for comfort and reliability. Within the range are the Egard H100 and H500 ear muffs, purpose designed for industrial applications. Also falling within Class 5 is Frontier’s range of PU ear plugs for high-level protection. These economical ear plugs come in packs of various quantities and are available in corded and non- corded varieties for single use protection.
